Rizal at Brgy. Pembo, Makati.

Dry Eyes.. oh no!

Last last Wednesday, a week ago, my eyes got red and I felt so uncomfortable. I thought it was a Sore eyes so I medicated with an anti-bacterial eye drops, 1 drop/day. But as I observe for 3 days, I was wondering why there was no itchy feeling and the redness only occur inside of my lower eyelids ( I don't know the right term). I went to our company doctor for a checkup and the diagnosis is Dry Eyes. First, he asked if I'm using contact lenses and i said yes. He said that wearing contact lenses can cause Dry eyes. I should wear it for not more than 8 hours per day. And it is much better if I change my contacts monthly coz I'm using an extended one. He also said that heat is also one factor to cause Dry eyes. I guess that's the main culprit why I have dry eyes, it's so very hot lately. (Climate change!) The doctor also said that dust, air pollution, and dirty places can also cause dry eyes. He prescribed an Artificial Tears eye drop to lubricate my eyes. He also told me to rest my eyes because my work requires me to sit at the front of the computer for more than 8 hours. And lastly he advised me not to wear contact lenses until my Dry eyes were gone. Oh no! Sadness but i have to follow. I bought an Artificial tear eyedrop at Mercury drug and it cost me Php326. As of today, I can say my eyes condition improves. Still waiting for the day when I can say "Byebye Dry Eyes, don't ever come back.". Hahaha! :)

May 10, 2010: At last, I'm counted!

I was able to cast my vote around 5:30pm. It was hassle-free, unlike in my morning experience. Fewer people, not that hot, and the long line was gone. Hope my Presidential and VP bets win. If not, it's fine with me, at least I have voted for the people which I think worthy to be leaders of our country. May God bless us all and our country.

What an election day..

Today is May 10,2010. The 1st Automated Election in the Philippines. But as of this moment, I haven't voted yet. Why? Because there are a lot of people in the school where the the election is held, it's too hot, the line is too long, and the voting process is too slow.. it's a total chaos in my opinion. Good thing is they announced that the voting is up til 7pm in the evening. I'm wondering if they will extend it till tomorrow.

Anyhow, I need to exercise my Right to Vote.. I wouldn't want to miss this opportunity. Our votes is for our country's future. Vote Wisely my fellowmen. May God bless us all.

Without Trust You Cannot Lead

I just want to share this article that I accidentally found in the net:
Without Trust You Cannot Lead by James M. Kouzes, Ph.D. and Barry Z. Posner, Ph.D.

I extracted some parts that caught my attention:

"If you're going to be in a business of any size, you're going to have to develop the kind of leadership qualities that allow you to attract good people, guide them, encourage them, and ultimately trust them--and let them go and do their jobs. Oh, sure, you have to take deep breaths, but mostly you have to trust them." --Bill McGowan, founder of MCI

I truly agree. I remember my previous boss said before:

"You are matured enough to manage your time. You can do whatever you want as long as you deliver your results on time and with quality."

and

"You are defined by your outputs."

I believe that he's a good leader who knows to take care of his team and will fight for you as long as he knows that you are RIGHT. Anyway, back to the article..

In reality this one really happens:

"Without trust, managers often take a self-protective posture. They are directive and hold tight reigns over their subordinates. Likewise, subordinates of low-trust managers are likely to ignore, disguise and distort facts, ideas, conclusions and feelings. They are suspicious and unreceptive, perceiving their manager's actions as attempts to manipulate them. In follow-up experiments where participants were briefed about their manager's low level of trust, attempts by the manager to be truly open and honest were ignored and rejected by subordinates. The mental set was so strong that the manager's honesty was viewed by subordinates as a clever attempt to deceive them. They were cynical and generally reacted by sabotaging the manager's efforts even further."

I remember an incident that someone mentioned that all will be treated fairly in terms of job assignments but he also mentioned that they as managers also have "Preferred Persons" to do the job. whaaattt??? Fairly versus Preferred? I also remember that someone added me before to be a friend in one of the famous social networking sites. I'm thinking if he did it just to sneak if I'm working or not. Is it a sign that he doesn't trust his subordinates..oooppps! :x

Final notes:

"Trust is a risk game. Leaders must be the first ones to ante-up."

and

"Without Trust You Cannot Lead"
